Previously, the only way to measure campaign performance was to compare it before and after implementing the changes. But this wasn’t an accurate way as analysis can be affected by events occurring in the test period, which includes weekends, holidays, and advertiser or user behaviour. It looks like with ACE you can perform much more accurate tests which will tell you precisely if changes in a campaign have produced any statistically significant results.

Google has launched a new tool called AdWords Campaign Experiments (ACE). This tool accurately measures and test changes in bids, keywords, ad groups and placements. ACE does split testing by executing your experimental campaign against the original one. By using this tool you’ll be able to optimise your account. This will help in analysing impact to your campaign performance, with changes made in keywords, bids, ad groups and placements.

Currently, it’s a testing tool available only to advertisers in the United States who have set English as their preferred language. However, Google is working on this tool and will release more information at a later date.
